Team Rita - Avebury to Stonehenge 26 Mile Trekkathon

Created by Amanda Loughlin 6th February 2012 This event has closed

Story

My sister and I, and a friend of ours Greg Hammond will be doing a 26 mile trek from Avebury to Stonehenge on 30th June 2012 to raise money for the BLF in memory of our dear and beautiful mother Rita Loughlin who we sadly lost on 6th December 2011 at the young age of 62 to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). As you know, Lisa and I are not really huge fans of over exerting ourselves, we enjoy long lie ins at weekends, leisurely shopping trips, watching Twilight over and over again whilst eating chocolate... you get the general idea - we don't really do TREKKING!!! The thought of even going for a 26 mile drive seems like effort enough! As this is a charity so close to our hearts, we are hoping to raise as much money as we can for the BLF in the hope that the vital medical research they undertake, may one day, provide a cure to COPD and many other similar incurable lung diseases. If all goes well with this event i.e. we do not have to call an air ambulance to rescue us midway through the trek - we hope to make this an annual fund raising event... Your donation - not matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated not only by the Loughlin family but also by the BLF who cared and supported our mum and others like her, through her illness. Any money raised will also go to helping others suffering like our mum. Thank you for your continued support, Amanda & Lisa xxx (Please see the link below for more information on the trekkathon): http://www.discoveradventure.com/UserFiles/image/trips/Avebury_Stonehenge_Trek/itinerary.pdf
